Property and Casualty


The Property and Casualty Section is responsible for the regulation of the property and casualty portion of the insurance industry in Nevada, including workers’ compensation insurance, and the regulation of title insurance, premium finance companies, motor clubs, service contracts, and the workers’ compensation portion of the Consolidated Insurance Programs.

For inquiries regarding the certification and regulation of self-insured employers and associations of self-insured employers, please contact the Division’s Self-Insured Section.

For questions regarding the claims-handling process, including the timely delivery of workers’ compensation benefits, please contact the Division of Industrial Relations.

To report workers’ comp fraud or to report other possible frauds being committed against an insurance company, please contact the state Attorney General's office.


Filing Requirements

All Property and Casualty filings must be submitted using the System for Electronic Rate and Form Filing (SERFF), and the Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) function within SERFF when submitting the filing fee. Filing instructions are available within SERFF or in Bulletin 10-010. See Required Filings at a Glance to determine if rates or forms require filing for a specific type of insurance and deemer provisions if filing a personal rate change.

Filing Fees:
  • Policy or coverage forms:  $25 per form
  • Endorsements, declaration pages, applications, etc.:  $10 per form
  • Rates/Rules:  $25 per filing
  • Adoption/Non-adoption/Delay of a Rate Service Organization filing:
    • Rate/Rule: $25
    • Forms: $10
  • Withdrawal of any number of rates/forms: $10 per filing
  • For group filings, add an additional fee as follows:
    • Lead Company fee is $10: Add $10 for each additional company
    • Lead company fee is $20: Add $20 for each additional company
    • Lead company fee is $25 or more: Add $25 for each additional company
  • If filing a new program, all forms and rates are included in one $25 fee per company

NV LIVE: Insurance Verification Program

Nevada LIVE (Liability Insurance Validated Electronically), the Department of Motor Vehicles’ new web-based, real-time insurance verification program went live in March 2011. Visit the Nevada LIVE web site to keep up-to-date on the progress of this project. The Division of Insurance is working in concert with DMV and industry toward the success of this DMV program to get uninsured drivers off the road.
