Director Bruce H. Breslow appoints Amy
L. Parks, Esq. as Acting Commissioner
Carson City – Nevada’s Director of the Department
of Business and Industry Bruce H. Breslow, today appointed Amy L. Parks as
“Acting” Insurance Commissioner. Ms.
Parks’ appointment follows the resignation of former Nevada Insurance
Commissioner Scott J. Kipper.
Ms. Parks has
eleven years of high level experience at the Division and this is her second
time serving as Acting Commissioner.
Ms. Parks has
served as Chief Insurance Counsel and Hearing Officer for the Nevada Division
of Insurance since the spring of 2009, and Insurance Counsel and Hearing
Officer for the Division since August 2004.
Acting
Commissioner Parks is an alumnus of the University of Nevada, Reno where she
received a Bachelor of Science degree in Laboratory Medicine in 1980. In
December 1995, Parks received her Juris Doctor degree from Northwestern School
of Law at Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon. Parks was admitted to
the Oregon State Bar in 1996 and the State Bar of Nevada in 1997. While
attending law school at Lewis & Clark College, Parks won Outstanding Oral
Advocate in Appellate Moot Court competition, and received the American
Jurisprudence Award in Insurance Law.
