Consumers given additional 48 hours to enroll in health insurance plans that start on Jan. 1, 2016

Uninsured and underinsured Nevadans have until 11:59 p.m. on Dec. 17 to enroll for health coverage

WHAT:         Due to an unprecedented demand and volume of incoming consumer calls to Exchange call centers and their websites, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services announced late Tuesday, Dec. 15, that the deadline to sign up for Jan. 1st coverage is now extended until 11:59 p.m. PST on Thursday, Dec. 17.

Nevada Health Link encourages residents to visit www.nevadahealthlink.com or call: 1-855-768-5465 to find a licensed broker near them, for more information on the enrollment process, and to determine qualifications for health insurance.

WHEN:         Two-day extension to enroll in health insurance plans that start on Jan. 1, 2016 is now available through 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 17

MORE:         The enrollment period for health insurance began November 1 and continues through Jan. 31, 2016. Consumers who enroll and pay for a 2016 health insurance policy between December 18, 2015 and January 15, 2016, will not have coverage until February 1, 2016. Consumers who enroll between January 16, 2016, and January 31, 2016, which is the end of the open enrollment period, will not have coverage until March 1, 2016.

It is recommended that individuals answer a list of pre-screening questions here to determine qualification for free or reduced medical coverage.  Applicants must provide various documents to enroll, including proof of residency, proof of income, valid identification card and proof of U.S. citizenship.
