Consumers
given additional 48 hours to enroll in health insurance plans that start on
Jan. 1, 2016
Uninsured
and underinsured Nevadans have until 11:59 p.m. on Dec. 17 to enroll for health
coverage
WHAT: Due
to an unprecedented demand and volume of incoming consumer calls to Exchange
call centers and their websites, the U.S. Department of Health and Human
Services announced late Tuesday, Dec. 15, that the deadline to sign up for Jan.
1st coverage is now extended until 11:59 p.m. PST on Thursday, Dec.
17.
Nevada
Health Link encourages residents to visit www.nevadahealthlink.com or
call: 1-855-768-5465 to find a licensed broker near them, for more information
on the enrollment process, and to determine qualifications for health
insurance.
WHEN: Two-day extension to enroll in health
insurance plans that start on Jan. 1, 2016 is now available through 11:59 p.m.
on Thursday, Dec. 17
MORE: The enrollment period
for health insurance began November 1 and continues through Jan. 31, 2016. Consumers
who enroll and pay for a 2016 health insurance policy between December 18, 2015
and January 15, 2016, will not have coverage until February 1, 2016. Consumers
who enroll between January 16, 2016, and January 31, 2016, which is the end of
the open enrollment period, will not have coverage until March 1, 2016.
It
is recommended that individuals answer a list of pre-screening questions here to
determine qualification for free or reduced medical coverage. Applicants must provide various documents to
enroll, including proof of residency, proof of income, valid identification
card and proof of U.S. citizenship.
