Approved 2019 Health Insurance Rates are Now Available to the Public to
Review
CARSON CITY, NV – The Division of Insurance has posted the approved
2019 health insurance rates for all plans in the Individual Health Insurance
Market at healthrates.doi.nv.gov.
For 2019 there are a total of 7 insurance
companies offering plans on and off the Exchange in the individual market in
Nevada. The approved average rate change in the individual market, both on and
off Exchange, is 0.3%.
“The approved rates for next year
are incredibly good news for consumers as the rates have remained consistent
for next year. This is a very good sign of market stability in Nevada,” said
Insurance Commissioner Barbara Richardson. “The Division strongly encourages
consumers to begin reviewing and comparing available health insurance plans
now, so that they know their options come November 1, when Open Enrollment
begins.
On Exchange, there are 2 insurance
companies offering plans: Health Plan of Nevada and SilverSummit Health Plan.
The average rate change on the Exchange is a 0.4% decrease.
Off the Exchange, there are 4
insurance companies offering plans, these include: Health Plan of Nevada,
Sierra Health & Life, Hometown Health Plan (HMO company), and Hometown
Health Providers (PPO company). The average approved rate increase for the
off-Exchange is 2.0%.
Because every year there is
different market information, consumers are also encouraged to visit the
Division’s NV Insurance 101 website at http://insurance101.nv.gov/ to learn
more about what health insurance options are available for open enrollment, how
to shop for health insurance, and other important topics.
Additional information on the
approved rate changes can be accessed by viewing a summary
of approved rate changes. To view the rates and plan information, visit
www.doi.nv.gov, click on “Health Insurance Rates” in the main navigation
menu. From the “Health Insurance Rate Review” page, click on “Search for Health
Insurance Rates.”
Rates are displayed by age and
county, and are for non-smokers. The search results are displayed and then
sortable by plan name, carrier name, metal tier, and whether the product is
offered on or off the Exchange. This allows the search to be limited for
quicker focused results.
