What Is a Service Contract Provider?

A service contract provider offers agreements — sometimes called extended warranties or maintenance agreements — that cover certain repairs, replacement, or maintenance services for products after the manufacturer’s warranty expires.

Examples include:

  • Vehicle service contracts covering major repairs
  • Appliance or electronics protection plans
  • Home system and structural service agreements

In Nevada, these providers must be registered and meet state requirements to offer contracts to consumers.

Consumer Tip: Always review the terms of a service contract before signing. Understand what is covered, how to file a claim, and any exclusions or limitations. If you have questions or concerns, contact the Nevada Division of Insurance Consumer Services team at (888) 872-3234 or email cscc@doi.nv.gov.
